Review the following problem and answer the questions that follow. Solve for x in the following equation:
3x - 2(x - 4) = 5(2x + 1)
Step 1: 3x - 2x + 8 = 10x + 5
Step 2: 1x + 8 = 10x + 5
Step 3: 9x = 10x + 5
Step 4: -1x = 5
x=-5
1) What mistake did I make?
2) What suggestion would you give me to avoid making that same
mistake in the future?
