Consider the surface area of the pyramid shown.
(a) draw a net for the pyramid. label all sides with measurements.
(b) write an expression for the surface area of the pyramid and then find the surface area

I have attached a picture of the net with the dimensions you will use labeled.  Please see the attached picture.

To find the surface area you will find the area of the 5 shapes shown in the net.  The 4 triangles are congruent (based on the fact that only one dimension is given on the base).  The other shape is the square base.

Use the following 2 expressions in your final expression:
A = 1/2bh and A = bh

SA= 4(0.5 x 3 x 2.24) + (3 x 3); The bold part is the expression.

SA = 22.44 square cm
