You didnt give us the excerpt, but in the beginning of the story scrooge was a terrible person, but as the story progresses it seems that he has every reason to be well a scrooge. nearing the end of the story, however, after all the ghost tell him whats what, he dedicates the rest of his life being the most selfless person he could be.
