Currently, a national database containing the DNA profiles for every individual in the country does not exist. Each state has different laws about when they collect DNA from individuals
and how long they can keep it in their state's database.
Provide one reason to support the creation of a national DNA database and one reason to
refute its creation.

This question is asking to identify and explain the medical ethics for the power of knowledge and the medical ethics of personal patient information and rights. The creation of a national database could be beneficial to catching criminals and identifying corpses through DNA testing. However the issues of human error and human bias, linking innocent people the crimes, privacy rights, and a surge in racial disparities are very large. There is also the ethical dilemma of “ who gets to control it” where the government has on many occasions been proven to be corrupt.
