A. Ask the clients open-ended questions. Explanation- be positive, hopeful, but honest, and aggressive clients will typically become less aggressive and more open to dialogue. Commonly, it is not actually the nurse aide with whom the client is becoming aggressive in the first place, but another angry client, being late for work, filling out forms at the front desk, etc.. This phenomenon is known as “transferrance”, transferring hurt, fear, grief, loss, mistrust or other negative emotions at the person with whom the client is actually in face-to-face conflict, not the caregiver.
