Available resources in nature can be classified into renewable resources and non-renewable resources.  

Renewable resources  These are energy sources that are replenished naturally within short periods of time. Renewable resources are more convenient and desirable to use because they renew faster and therefore there is continuous regeneration with use. Renewable resources are therefore, inexhaustible as they cannot be exhausted permanently as they are continuously supplied by nature. Examples of renewable resources include; wind, solar, water, biomass and geothermal. Solar energy is a renewable resource as the sun will shine through out. Wind energy is another renewable resource as wind cannot be stopped from blowing. Geothermal energy is also a renewable energy that generates heat from the earth. Other examples of renewable resources include bio-fuels, fuels that are obtained from living organisms. Nonrenewable resources. These are resources that are available only in limited supply. Nonrenewable resources include; coal, natural gas, oil, and nuclear power. Nonrenewable cannot be replenished like renewable resources and are exhaustible as they are not continuously replenished by nature. Nonrenewable resources are scarce resources and are not abundantly available in nature. Additionally, they are costly and not easily available.  Despite the importance use of nonrenewable resources, they have various negative impact on the environment, such that they pollute the atmosphere by releasing various pollutants in air when burned.
