Describe the different oceanic zones and the organisms that live in these? do they need special adaptations to live in these zones?

The ocean is distributed in four zones:

Intertidal zone: Is the zone which we see, it contains lowest tides. It is also known as littoral zone. High amount of sunlight and oxygen is present.

Animals in this zone: sea palms, sea stars, snails, sponges, and whelks

Pelagic zone: It contains the ocean column that is neither near the shore nor the bottom of ocean.

Animals: Tunas, sharks and large marine mammals.

Abyssal zone: It is the bottom ocean and this area is present at depths of 4,000 to 6,000 meters (13,000 to 20,000 ft). There is no presence of light in this area.

Animals: Anglerfish, deep sea jellyfish, deep sea shrimp, cookiecutter shark and tripod fish.

Benthic zone:

The most deepest part of the ocean. It actually contains sediment surfaces and sub-surface layers.

Animals: Worms, bivalves, echinoderms, sea anemones, corals, sponges, sea squirts, turbellarians and larger crustaceans.

Yes, there are some special adaptions for the organisms living in that areas.

These areas or zones are separated on the basis of special structural characteristic like depth, light penetration, air or oxygen concentration.

So for living in specific zone, there are adaptive characteristic of animals or microorganisms essential for survival.

Like on the bottom there are no photosynthesizing plants, so animals living in that area are adapted to eat small animals for nutrition.
