A hot air balloon uses the principle of buoyancy to create lift. By making the air inside the balloon less dense then the surrounding air, the balloon is able to lift objects many times its own weight. A large hot air balloon has a maximum balloon volume of 2280 m3 and the required lift is 2500 N (rough estimate of the weight of the equipment and passengers). Calculate the temperature of the air inside the balloon which will produce the required lift. Assume that the outside air temperature is (exactly) 0ā—¦ C and that air is an ideal gas under these conditions. What factor limit the maximum altitude attainable by this method for a given load?
