Using the description provided for obtaining elastic constants from the speed of sound in various directions of a cubic crystal, in Chapter 3 section Elastic Waves in Cubic Crystals. Determine the three independent elastic constants of diamond, namely, C11, C12, and C44 with the following data obtained from experiments. Data: The density of diamond is 3.52 g/cm3 The longitudinal and transverse speeds of sound along the [100] direction are 17.6 and 12.8 km/s And The longitudinal speed of sound in the direction [111] is 18.6 km/s. Calculate the elastic constants in gigapascal (GPa).

(2) (a) you have a simple circuit that consists of only a battery (Ξ΄vbat=1.5v) and two resistors with resistance r1=10Ο‰ and r2=5Ο‰, connected in series with each other. what is the current running through the battery? (b) you re-arrange your circuit so now r2 is attached in parallel to r1 rather than in series. what is the current running through the battery? (c) you add an additional resistor r3=7Ο‰ on the same branch as r2. what is the current running through the battery? (d) what is the power dissipated in r3?
