A nuclear explosion on Earth generates an electromagnetic pulse that travels away from the Earth. A long distance from Earth, scientists on an alien planet named Tutheleftaya, a distance LL from the Earth, detect the pulse. Since the pulse travels at the speed of light, they detect it at time t=L/ct=L/c after the pulse was created on Earth. Another group of scientists on another alien planet, named Offtatheright, which is also a distance LL away from the Earth, but in the opposite direction, also detect the pulse. Since they are the same distance from the Earth, they detect it at the same time as the scientists on Tutheleftaya. In the reference frame of someone traveling on a spaceship going from the Earth to Tutheleftaya, and about halfway there when the explosion happens, which group of scientists detects the pulse first?

Wo audio speakers are placed on a vertical rail. speaker a is placed at head-level while speaker b is place at some variable height, \delta yΞ΄y, above speaker a. both speakers receive simultaneous input from a sine-wave generator so the speakers each produce a pure sinusoidal sound wave with a wavelength of 0.531 meters. calculate the lowest height that speaker b can be placed above speaker a to produce a minimum of sound heard by person standing \delta x = 7.86Ξ΄x=7.86 meters directly in front of speaker a.

Tafari worked one summer on a ship that set weather buoys in the ocean. he watched how one of the buoys moved in the water. describe which parts of the wave would cause the buoy to bob up and down. which wave property determined how fast the buoys bobbed in the water? he observed that when the wind blew harder, the ocean waves were larger, and the buoys moved away from the ship. what effect, if any, did the waves have on how far the buoys moved? explain your answer.
