A long ramp made of cast iron is sloped at a constant angle θ = 52.0∘ above the horizontal. Small blocks, each with mass 0.42 kg but made of different materials, are released from rest at a vertical height h above the bottom of the ramp. In each case the coefficient of static friction is small enough that the blocks start to slide down the ramp as soon as they are released. You are asked to find h so that each block will have a speed of 4.00 m/s when it reaches the bottom of the ramp. You are given these coefficients of sliding (kinetic) friction for different pairs of materials.

Material 1 Material 2 Coefficient of Sliding Friction
Cast iron Cast iron 0.15
Cast iron Copper 0.29
Cast iron Lead 0.43
Cast iron Zinc 0.85

These models show the electron structures of two different nonmetal elements. which element is likely more reactive, and why? element 1 is more reactive because it has fewer electron shells and is toward the top of its group on the periodic table. element 1 is more reactive because it has more electrons in its valence shell and is farther to the right on the periodic table. element 2 is more reactive because it does not have a valence shell close to the nucleus, so it will attract electrons. element 2 is more reactive because it does not have a full valence shell, so it will attract electrons.

Carbon is allowed to diffuse through a steel plate 15 mm thick. the concentrations of carbon at the two faces are 0.65 and 0.30 kg c/m^3 fe, which are maintained constant. if the preexponential and activation energy are 6.2 x 10-7 m2 /s and 80,000 j/mol, respectively, compute the temperature at which the diffusion flux is 1.43 x 10^-9 kg/m^2 -s.
