Wilhelm Wien was a very productive researcher of Blackbody Radiation. In addition to his Displacement Law of 1893 in the previous problem, he also derived his Distribution Law of 1896 through careful thermodynamic analysis of the energy and momentum in an electromagnetic field. The Distribution Law says that whatever function would eventually be found to describe Blackbody Radiation, it had to be of the form g(λT)/λ^5 . He proposed an exponential form for the function g(λT), leading here to:
Rwien (λ,T)= f(T) * (λ0/λ)^5 / exp(λ0/λ)
where f(T) is the same function as in the Planck formula above.
1. At a fixed temperature, calculate the value of λ, in units of λ0, at which the Wien formula is maximized.
