A large water tank open to the atmosphere supplies water for a nozzle to supply a continuous jet stream of water. The stream needs to reach a height with sufficient flow rate, to be used for fire protection. A pump is used to deliver water up through a pipe angled at 60o to the horizontal and at the top the flow is horizontal out of the nozzle with a diameter of 5 cm. A flow rate of Q= 0.02 m3/s is required. Five different heights are to be evaluated 10 through 50 m at 10 m increments. Also two different pipe diameters are to be evaluated for each condition, 7 cm and 10 cm. The total losses in the piping system can be:
