A 1-m^3 tank holds a two phase liquid vapor mixture of carbon dioxide at 17°C. The quality of the mixture is 70%. For saturated carbon dioxide at 17°C, vf= 0.9827×10^–3m^3/kg and vg= 1.756×10^–2m^3/kg. Determine the masses of saturated liquid and saturated vapor, each in kg. What is the percent of the total volume occupied by saturated liquid?

Assume that a person skiing high in the mountains at an altitude of h = 15100 ft takes in the same volume of air with each breath as she does while walking at sea level. determine the ratio of the mass of oxygen inhaled for each breath at this high altitude compared to that at sea level. assume that the air composition (i.e. % of air that is oxygen) is the same at sea level as it is at 15100 ft.

An object with initial temperature 130 ∘ f is submerged in large tank of water whose temperature is 50 ∘ f . find a formula for f ( t ) , the temperature of the object after t minutes, if the cooling constant is k = − 0.2 . remember newton's law of cooling (the rate of change of temperature with respect to time is equal to k times the difference between the temperature of the object and the surrounding temperature) ! : )
