According to the 3rd equation of motion,

We know that,

v² - u² = 2as

So, putting all the values, we get

⇒ v² - u² = 2as

⇒ (100)² - (30)² = 2 × 40 × s

⇒ 10000 - 900 = 80s

⇒ 9100 = 80s

⇒ 9100/80 = s

⇒ s = 113.75 m.
