The Oscillating universe theory suggests that for every big bang, there is big crunch.  Its a cosmological model in which it is believed that the universe keeps oscillating between big bang and big crunch i.e. the universe expands and after reaching to certain limit it starts to crunch as the gravity starts to pull back. We are living between one of the this cycle of big bang and big crunch.
