In order for you to jump a distance of 4 feet horizontally, you must exert a force of 200 N.
When you are standing on the ground, you have
no trouble doing this. If you are standing in a
canoe, however, and you need to jump 4 feet to
reach the pier, you will surely fall in the water
Why is it that you cannot jump 4 feet out of a
canoe when you can easily do this when on land?

Atennis player used a tennis racket to hit a tennis ball with a mass of 0.25 kg with a force of 5.25 newtons. how does the force the tennis racket exerted on the tennis ball compare with the force the tennis ball exerted on the tennis racket? a. the force of the tennis racket on the tennis ball is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to the force the tennis ball exerted on the tennis racket. b. the force of the tennis racket on the tennis ball is equal in magnitude and in the same direction as the force the tennis ball exerted on the tennis racket. c. the force of the tennis racket on the tennis ball is less in magnitude and in the same direction as the force the tennis ball exerted on the tennis racket. d. the force of the tennis racket on the tennis ball is greater in magnitude and opposite in direction as the force the tennis ball exerted on the tennis racket.

Acommon technique in analysis of scientific data is normalization. the purpose of normalizing data is to eliminate irrelevant constants that can obscure the salient features of the data. the goal of this experiment is to test the hypothesis that the flux of light decreases as the square of the distance from the source. in this case, the absolute value of the voltage measured by the photometer is irrelevant; only the relative value conveys useful information. suppose that in part 2.2.2 of the experiment, students obtain a signal value of 162 mv at a distance of 4 cm and a value of 86 mv at a distance of 5.7 cm. normalize the students' data to the value obtained at 4 cm. (divide the signal value by 162.) then calculate the theoretically expected (normalized) value at 5.7 cm.
