Jackie finds the passage below on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Web site. The NIH is an agency of the U. S. government. "Recent studies have shown a strong correlation between frequent, long-term use of an indoor tanning facility and an increased risk of melanoma, which is a type of skin cancer. Indoor tanning beds expose human skin to ultraviolet light, which is energetic enough to damage living cells by ionizing their atoms. Although additional research is needed to fully characterize the relationship between ultraviolet light and skin cancer, it is clear that indoor tanning-bed use represents an avoidable risk factor for melanoma, which can be lethal."

Jackie thinks that the authors of the passage are misrepresenting the characteristics of electromagnetic radiation. Is she correct?

A.
No; ultraviolet light is energetic enough to ionize some of the atoms it encounters and cause damage to living cells.
B.
No; exposure to low-energy radiation, including ultraviolet light, is widely recognized as a risk factor for skin cancer.
C.
Yes; ultraviolet light is energetic enough to pass through most materials, including living matter, unimpeded.
D.
Yes; information found on government Web sites is rarely accurate or unbiased, so the claims about ultraviolet light cannot be trusted.

Is it possible to use the energy from two atoms colliding to create a clean burning lasting fuel source with a large amount of force? is it also possible to harness that energy from the two atoms colliding to create a clean energy source that will last for years from just two atoms colliding. is there a possibility to control and store that energy for years but slowly let the energy out enough to power cities cheaper and faster.

An engineer designs a roller coaster so that a car travels horizontally for 162 ft, then climbs 127 ft at an angle of 31.0° above the horizontal. it then moves 127 ft at an angle of 46.0° below the horizontal. if we take the initial horizontal motion of the car to be along the +x-axis, what is the car's displacement? (give the magnitude of your answer, in ft, to at least four significant figures and give the direction of your answer in degrees counterclockwise from the +x-axis.)

Aperson gives a shopping cart an initial push along a horizontal floor to get it moving, and then lets go. the cart travels forward along the floor, gradually slowing as it moves. consider the horizontal force(s) on the cart while it is moving forward and slowing. which of the following statements is correct? (a) both a forward and a backward force are acting on the cart, but the forward force is larger. (b) only a forward force is acting which diminishes with time. (c) both a forward and a backward force are acting on the cart, but the backward force is larger. (d) only a backward force is acting, no forward force.
