Explain how this increases their efficiency. Explain how this increases their efficiency. Antireflective coating causes the phase shift of the light on the interface between the air and the panel increasing the path length of the light, so the solar panel turn more light into the energy. Antireflective coating decreases the index of refraction of the solar panel, so the losses of light caused by the refraction in the panel decreases, and the efficiency of the panel increases. Antireflective coating cancels the reflection of light from the panel, so the greater part of light enters the solar panel and can be turned into the energy. Antireflective coating refracts the light falling on the panel so the light of different wavelengths falls onto the different places of the solar panel and turns into energy with increased efficiency.

Glass is transparent to visibile light under normal conditions; however, at extremely high intensities, glass will absorb most of the light incident upon it. this works through a process known as multiphoton absorption. in this process, several photons are absorbed at the same time. if very intense light whose photons carry 2ev of energy is shined onto a material with a band gap of 4ev, that light can be absorbed through two-photon absorption, because two photons have the right amount of energy to bridge the band gap. what is the minimum number of photons of 800-nm light that are needed to equal or exceed the band gap of fused silica glass

To practice problem-solving strategy 10.1 for energy conservation problems. a sled is being held at rest on a slope that makes an angle θ with the horizontal. after the sled is released, it slides a distance d1 down the slope and then covers the distance d2 along the horizontal terrain before stopping. find the coefficient of kinetic friction μk between the sled and the ground, assuming that it is constant throughout the trip.
