A 0.047 kg air hockey puck and a 0.165 kg real hockey puck are flying towards each other on an air hockey table. The air hockey puck is traveling at 1.38 m/s and the real hockey puck is traveling at 0.25 m/s. Wham! They smack into each other. This sends the air hockey puck flying back at 1.157 m/s. How fast and in which direction does the real hockey puck go after the collision? If one puck slows down a little and the other speeds up a bunch, how is it possible that momentum was conserved? Identify which concepts, rules, laws, equations, and features of this system are important and appropriate to solve this problem. Use qualitative, quantitative, and graphical analysis methods to solve this problem.
