I used the "alternate angles between parallel lines" rule.
then, to find y°, I did
1.34 x sin29° = sin y°
inverse sin y° to get y= 40° , but the answer is 50°.
is my method incorrect and why?

(2) (a) you have a simple circuit that consists of only a battery (δvbat=1.5v) and two resistors with resistance r1=10ω and r2=5ω, connected in series with each other. what is the current running through the battery? (b) you re-arrange your circuit so now r2 is attached in parallel to r1 rather than in series. what is the current running through the battery? (c) you add an additional resistor r3=7ω on the same branch as r2. what is the current running through the battery? (d) what is the power dissipated in r3?

8.29 two streams containing pyridine and acetic acid at 25°c are mixed and fed into a heat exchanger. due to the heat-of-mixing effect, it is desired to reduce the temperature after mixing to 25°c using a stream of chilled ethylene glycol as indicated in the diagram. calculate the mass flow rate of ethylene glycol needed. the heat capacity of ethylene glycol at these conditions is approximately 2.8 kj/(kg k), and the enthalpy change of mixing (δmixh) is given below.

It may seem strange that the selected velocity does not depend on either the mass or the charge of the particle. (for example, would the velocity of a neutral particle be selected by passage through this device? ) the explanation of this is that the mass and the charge control the resolution of the device--particles with the wrong velocity will be accelerated away from the straight line and will not pass through the exit slit. if the acceleration depends strongly on the velocity, then particles with just slightly wrong velocities will feel a substantial transverse acceleration and will not exit the selector. because the acc
