The motion of space shuttles is caused differently than that of most modes of transportation. As the fuel is burned, the hot gasses produced rush out of the bottom of the craft. This causes the space shuttle to launch into the air.
Describe how hot gasses rushing out of the bottom of a space shuttle cause it to launch.
In your response, be sure to include:
something about the forces acting on the space shuttle causing it to launch.
how Newton’s third law allows the space shuttle to launch.
why there is a delay between when the fuel starts to burn and when the space shuttle launches.

Amass weighing 24 pounds, attached to the end of a spring, stretches it 4 inches. initially, the mass is released from rest from a point 8 inches below the equilibrium position. find the equation of motion. (use g = 32 ft/s2 for the acceleration due to gravity.)

Ablock of mass m = 2.5 kg is attached to a spring with spring constant k = 740 n/m. it is initially at rest on an inclined plane that is at an angle of theta= 26 with respect to the horizontal, and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the plane is uk = 0.17. in the initial position, where the spring is compressed by a distance of d = 0.16 m, the mass is at its lowest position and the spring is compressed the maximum amount. take the initial gravitational energy of the block as zero. the block's initial mechanical energy is 9.472 j.b. if the spring pushes the block up the incline, what distance l in meters will the block travel before coming to rest? the spring remains attached to both the block and the fixed wall throughout its motion.
