A train normally travels at a constant speed of 24 m/s over a long straight section of railway line. Because of track repairs taking place on a 1km stretch of the railway line, the train is restricted to travel at 6 m/s over this stretch. In order to comply with the speed limit, the train approaching at 24 m/s slows down uniformly to omst over a distance of 100 m extending up to the start of the section under repair. From the end of the 1 km restriction zone, the train accelerates to 24 m/s over a further distance of 1 km. How much time does the train lose on
the whole trip?
