x1 = distance from tree to where carrion falls 
x2 = distance from where carrion falls to fox 
x1 + x2 = x 
vix = 1.3 m/s 

y = viy(t) + (1/2)(a)(t^2) --> 
14 = 0 + (1/2)(-9.81)(t^2) --> 
t^2 = 14 / 4.905 = 2.854 
t = 1.689 

x1 = vix1(t) + (1/2)(a)(t^2) --> 
x1 = 1.3(1.689) + 0 = 2.1957 

x2 = 8 - 2.1957 = 5.8043 
v2avg = x2/t = 5.8043 m / 1.689 s = 3.437 m/s

If one were to put the y value into the equation, they could find out what x is for a certain value of y.  putting in the value of y (1), we get the equation: 1=4x-12=4xx=0.5this means that the value of x when why is 1 is x=0.5
