Rita has two small containers, one holding a liquid and one holding a gas. rita transfers the substances to two larger containers. compare the behavior of the atoms in the liquid and in the gas once they are moved to the larger containers.

Sample Response: liquids flow freely, they take the shape of the container they are in, but have a definite volume. Like liquids, the shape of a gas changes with the container. This is because the atoms in a gas move rapidly and freely to fill any available space. Unlike liquids, the volume of a gas changes depending on the container it is in.

We have that the atoms of the gas lose its compactness or density .the will be less collisions between gas atoms and kinetic energy reduced while for the liquid  there will be little or no change to its kinetic energy.

For the Gas

When the gas is moved to a a bigger container the atoms of the gas lose its compactness or density .the will be less collisions between gas atoms and kinetic energy reduced

For the liquid

When the liquid substance is moved in to a larger container its atom density remains the same and there will be little or no change to its kinetic energy
