PLEASE HELP For this assignment, you will develop several models that show how light waves and mechanical waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials. For each model, you will write a brief description of the interaction between the wave and the material. You will also compose two typewritten paragraphs. The first will compare and contrast light waves interacting with different materials. The second will explain why materials with certain properties are well suited for particular functions.

a) In the following steps, you will create diagrams that model several different wave interactions.
b) In each diagram, be sure to identify the type of wave. Use arrows to indicate the interaction(s) of each wave with each material. Identify the material the wave interacts with.

Model the reflection of a light wave.
i. Choose a material that will reflect light.
ii. Create a diagram that represents a light wave being reflected.
iii. Label your diagram “Light Wave Reflected.”
iv. Below the diagram, write a brief description of the interaction between the wave and the material. Be sure to discuss the angle of incidence, the angle of reflection and the normal. Also explain how the amplitude and frequency of the wave are affected.
b) Model the absorption of a light wave.
i. Choose a material that will absorb light.
ii. Create a diagram that represents a light wave being absorbed.
iii. Label your diagram “Light Wave Absorbed.”
iv. Below the diagram, write a brief description of the interaction between the wave and the material.
c) Model the transmission of a light wave.
i. Choose a material that will transmit light.
ii. Create a diagram that represents a light wave being transmitted.
iii. Label your diagram “Light Wave Transmitted.”
iv. Below the diagram, write a brief description of the interaction between the wave and the material.
Step 4: Model mechanical waves.
a) Draw a diagram that represents how a mechanical wave interacts with a particular material.
i. Choose a material that will interact with a mechanical wave.
ii. Include reflection, absorption, and transmission in your diagram.
iii. Label your diagram “Mechanical Wave Interactions.”
iv. Below the diagram, write a brief description of the interaction between the mechanical waves and the material. Include an explanation of how the amplitude and frequency of the wave are affected.
Step 5: Compose two typewritten paragraphs describing wave interactions.
a) Consider light reflecting off of a mirror. Now think about light reflecting off of a solid yellow vase. Type a paragraph that compares and contrasts the interactions of each light wave with each material.
b) Create a new paragraph. Explain why a mirror is good for seeing objects and why acoustic panels are used in concert halls.
c) Make sure your name is on the document.
d) You will submit this document through the virtual classroom.
