An elephant is dragging a tree trunk along a horizontal surface by means of an attached rope which makes an angle of 30° with the horizontal. The tension in the rope is 4000 N.
(i) Determine the horizontal force exerted by the rope on the tree trunk. [3464 N]
(ii) Determine also the vertical component of the force exerted by the rope on the tree trunk. [2000 N]
