You have made someone very angry! After a brief struggle, three thugs manage to get you shackled to a heavy steel ball and throw you into the river. You sink to a depth of 6.8 m. Because of the hydrostatic pressure at that depth, your body is squished to 92 % of its original volume. The entire process of your being tossed into the river results in the release of 135 J of heat from your body. Fortunately, you manage to escape and swim to shore. Then you begin to wonder about the change in your internal energy as a result of the entire fiasco.
Part(a) Determine the total pressure on your body, in pascals, when you were at the depth of 7.8 m. Take the atmospheric pressure to be 1.01 × 10^5 Pa.
Part(b) You approximate your pre-dunking volume to be 0.09 m^3. From that, from the pressure, and from the heat your body released during the process, find the change in internal energy of the system (you!), in joules.
