(1) A wooden block with a mass of 700 g is moving east with a constant velocity of 8 m/s when it is struck by a 20 g bullet moving west with a velocity of 625 m/s. The bullet strikes the block and goes through it. If the bullet
emerges from the block with a velocity of 470 m/s west, determine the following:
(i) the displacement of the block from the point of impact and
(ii) the time required for the block to stop after impact.
(All masses are conserved and the coefficient of friction of the wooden block is 0.21)

The temperature at a point (x, y) is t(x, y), measured in degrees celsius. a bug crawls so that its position after t seconds is given by x = 6 + t , y = 8 + 1 3 t, where x and y are measured in centimeters. the temperature function satisfies tx(3, 9) = 5 and ty(3, 9) = 4. how fast is the temperature rising on the bug's path after 3 seconds? (round your answer to two decimal places.)
