Why isn't an N-type or a P-type semiconductor of practical use?

For me a person with a phd and who knows what there talking about.i know the chances of a radiation leak is low but if it does the area within a 96.3 mile radius would be unusable because of contamination

Honestly "global warming" may be a slight possiblity, however they called it "climate change" because its not real, in fact we had one of our coldest days here not too long ago, and the "issues" with this subject is a blindfold for actual problems.
