Ocean water contains quite a bit of nacl . aside from it tasting bad, why is it not a good idea to drink ocean water?

It is not a good idea to drink ocean water for it causes hypernatremia. This condition infers too much salt and less water in the body that could result to dehydration because your body would have to urinate more water to get rid of all that extra salt. The body could detect saltiness of the blood and this sends signals to the brain that the body needs more water to balance the fluids in the body. Aside from this, ocean water also contains bacteria that can make a person ill.
