If you increase the mass of an object but keep the force on it constant

Then its acceleration must decrease, by the same factor as you increased the mass.

The PRODUCT of the (mass) times (acceleration) doesn't change.
It's equal to the force acting on the mass. (Newton #2: F = M·A.)
So, since the product has to remain constant, if you multiply the mass
by something, then the acceleration will divide by the same thing.
