Analyze the forces acting on a cyclist who is slowing down as he or she climbs a hill

Friction is created between the tire and road or grass. When she goes up the hill she is gaining potential energy, going down losing potential and gaining kinetic. I'm not sure if this will exactly answer your question, but hope this helps.
