Thus, number of tents that held 4 people each would be (60 - a)

Therefore;

number of people in 2 people tent = 2a

number of people in 4 people tent = 4(60 - a)

Since all the tents were filled and there were 202 people in total, then we have;

2a + 4(60 - a) = 202

2a + 240 - 4a = 202

240 - 2a = 202

2a = 240 - 202

2a = 38

a = 38/2

a = 19 tents

Since number of 4 people tent is 60 - a, then we have;

number of 4 people tent = 60 - 19 = 41
