Agallup poll indicates that percent of male drinkers say they most often drink beer, followed by liquor at 26 percent, while percent of female drinkers prefer wine.

Since beer are generally taste bitter compared to wine, we can draw a general suggestion that male tend to consume alcohol solely for its effect while women tend to used it for enjoyment or social setting.
