Interest groups are  organizations of people with policy goals who work within the political process to promote them. They can be: Lobbying the government, Participating in the election process, Educating the public and so on. For example, ad hoc associations that are aimed at influencing public policy decisions are concerned at a single cause such as banning firearms. Lacking financial resources, these associations depend on the membership that they mobilize through social media, phone calls, personal contacts, and demonstrations that are often televised.
