Why do farmers cut down trees in the amazon?

There are several reason for this:

1. For commercial use

The trees that grow on amazon sold really well on foreign market, and many farmers utilize this as their main source of income

2. For their own consumption

They often cut down trees for things such as building furniture, as materials for firewood, etc

3. To provide space

They often cut down trees to establish their home, lawn , or even their local farms.

chavez's example shows that nonviolent protest can work well. it shows that one nonviolent man can stop a mob, which proves chavez's point and persuades people to protest nonviolently.
