The issue is bullying what is your chosen issue? why is this issue a problem in your state or local area? what government agencies and citizen groups would likely address the issue? what is the ultimate goal to address this issue? (in other words, how will you know the problem is solved? ) what are the public policy alternatives to address the issue? what is one positive and one negative outcome for each possible policy alternative? what is the best plan to get the policy enacted? how can citizens get involved to enact the policy?

Bullying is to be considered a problem worldwide, even more with the use of technology, it has open the door to cyberbullying as well. This phenomena may affect the society behaviour in several negative ways, being the one that is affecting us closely, suicide. Nowadays, we have seen the rate of child suicide has increased and in most of the cases it has been pushed by bullying wheter at home or school. Although there are some federal anti-bulling laws followed by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division there are more actions to be taken. For instance, whenever a case of bullying is reported there should be an immediate and appropiate response to find out what happen and how the involved person could get help; in this way we, as citizens, can help each other and take action in a problem that in most cases can be preventable.

They all are examples of anti-bullying organizations​Believe what your child tells you. This is an important first step and will help your child trust that you are able to help him with his problem. Accept what he has to say at face value by attentively listening to them without interruption.​

Let your child know that he/she is not alone. Most children have to deal with some type of bullying behavior at one time or another. Reassure your child that he is not the problem.​

If your child is being threatened in a physical or illegal way at school, report the problem. Your child may not want you to do this, but violence cannot be tolerated. You need to model assertive behavior by alerting those in charge where the bullying is taking place.​

Teach your child assertive behavior and how to ignore routine teasing. Let them know it is okay to say ‘No.’ Sometimes even friends bully, so letting your child know they can be true to their own feelings and say ‘no’ can go a long way.​

Encourage your child not to give in to a bully. Giving up possessions or giving into a bully in any way encourages the bully to continue. Identify and role-play ways for your child to respond to a bully – showing assertive but not aggressive behavior.​
