What are the pros and cons of consequentialism?

Pro - The pro of this doctrine is that it looks at the big picture. It aggregates all pain, all pleasure, and makes sure the latter outweighs the first. It is an arrow, that points to a direction that would benefit everyone (well, almost) in the long run.

Cons - The cons, on the other hand, fall into two categories:

It doesn’t respect the rights of individuals/minority. For example, all your classmates want chocolate cupcakes for the end of year party (which is usually just food and chatter), so they buy only that, despite you wanting blueberry.
There is no uniform currency to calculate the total pains and total pleasures in a society. Unless you place a dollar sign on each person. Then take away the peoples who have suffered from a specific action (cost) from the peoples who have gained happiness or pleasure (benefit). But this arouses another wave of controversy…
