Cassius was not kind.

Cassius is cunning, manipulative, and jealous; and also two-faced. He can be a friend and a foe as he had influence in the death of his friend Julius Caesar. He had been friends with Julius Caesar before his claim for the throne, however, he got jealous when he saw how people of Rome idolized Julius.  

Cassius believed in a democratic leadership where people have the autonomy to elect leaders to decide on state matters and make appropriate law and legislation for governing. His jealousy towards Julius prompted him to persuade Brutus by false seduction and fabricating information about Roman people hating Julius.
