What was a cause of the urbanization that took place in the 1800s.

Factories (Industrialization) or jobs.

One of the causes of urbanization that took place in the 1800s was because of factories.

The reason why this was one of  the causes of urbanization was because people that were living in the rural areas wanted to get jobs, but there were nearly no jobs in rural areas. But, there were many factories that were opening up in the urban areas. Since the factories were opening up in urban areas, people that were in the rural areas would travel to the urban areas in order to get jobs.

Since the amount of factories in the urban areas were increasing, people started to transition from living in rural areas to living in the city, due to the fact that they wanted to live closer to their job, which makes commuting more easier. Soon, there would be more people living in urban areas instead of rural areas because of the factories that provided jobs to the people.
