Adog has learned to salivate to the sound of a bell because it was repeatedly associated with food. interestingly, even though it was never conditioned with the beeping of a timer, it will also salivate to this stimulus. this illustrates the process of classical conditioning.

Higher-order conditioning or second-order conditioning

Explanation:

Higher order conditioning is also called second order habituate which is the  a form of classical conditioning where a new "second-order" ready is made, by mixing of a new stimulus with a already created conditioned stimulus.  

For example: firstly Pavlov conditioned the dog with metronome using meat powder as a UCS, this was first-order conditioning. In the next phase, Pavlov presented the animal with the sight of the black square with salivation thus a second-order condition was established. In this manner, Pavlov established third-order conditioning but only when unpleasant stimuli like an electric current were used as UCS. Food is a primary reinforce. In many cases this order is weak
