Convergent thinking:

This thinking also called critical thinking, logical thinking, Vertical thinking, analytical thinking, and linear thinking. This term was given by Joy Paul Guilford. He also gives term divergent thinking. This thinking is related to the correct answer to a problem. The algorithm is a good example of it.  

Divergent thinking:

It used the imagination. It is also called creative thinking or horizontal thinking. It is a thought process that generates ideas by exploring many of the solutions to a problem. It occurs spontaneously, free-flowing and not line critically. We can explore many of the solutions through imagination short periods. Heuristics is a good example of it

the old way of life was represented by superstition, an angry god, and absolute submission to authority. the thinkers of the age of reason ushered in a new way of thinking. this new way championed the accomplishments of humankind. individuals did not have to accept despair. science and reason could bring happiness and progress. kings did not rule by divine right. they had an obligation to their subjects. europeans pondered the implications for nearly a century. americans put them into practice first.
