The sign language in Nicaragua is an unplanned impulsive creation of the deaf children in schools in the 1970's and 1980's. The study of linguistic has very much interest in this language as it is believed to be the creation of new additional language. In 1977, the education system was established to address the needs of special children. It started with 50 children but the number increased with time.  

There was a lack of communication between children and teachers and this created a learning barrier. However, the recreational places where children interacted was lively with communication created by different gestures and other elements of sign language. This is how the new language was born and that language is still used even today.
