You've probably read about vampires. maybe you have even seen them in movies. but maybe you're still asking yourself, what is a vampire and where did vampires come from? vampires take a lot of different forms. in scary movies, vampires are blood-sucking monsters. in a popular movie, they look like popular high school students. on a popular children's tv show, the vampire is a counting monster. despite the many forms they take, one things is for certain - vampires are not real. at least most people don't think so. when vampires first appeared in eastern european legend, they were known as evil spirits. these spirits hung around graveyards. their goal was to sneak into a grave. then they would enter the dead person's body and try to find blood to eat. legend also said that vampires liked counting. they would count anything that they could find. sometimes they would be so focused on counting that they would forget to sneak into graves. if vampires were real, finding something for them to count would be an easy way to escape. of course, vampires are not real, but if you are not convinced, there are a few ways to tell if you're with a real vampire.

Based on your approved case, create fictitious digital evidence. you may use logs from your own computer (no personal information) as a guide or search the internet for samples. these samples do not have to be technically correct, but there must be a reasonable presumption that this information would exist, supported by a reference. document who, when, and how the evidence was obtained. remember, you are creating fictitious examples, so refer to prior reading or examples of how digital evidence was collected. if necessary, refer to the "who" as a "systems administrator" and ensure the fictitious person is identified and referenced in your investigation. digital evidence must meet each of the following criteria: some of your digital evidence must be retrieved by computer forensics. some of your digital evidence must be retrieved from log files. digital evidence must contain information to support who, what, when, where, and how the cyber-crime was committed. present digital copies of your evidence in text files, screen shots, or pdfs.
