Psychodynamic theory is one of the different approaches used in therapy. This kind of therapy was first introduced by Sigmund Freud. One of the main characteristics of this approach is how it focuses on how our early relationships during childhood determine the way we will relate to others in adulthood. It also focuses in the unconscious patterns that make us repeat patterns of behaviors that we learned when we were kids.

One of the main goals of this therapy is to identify these patterns, understand them and, as the person understand them, a change comes in a natural way and the person can develop healthier patterns of relation.
