As is well known, during Ancient Egyptian history, most of her kingdom (as well as modern day Egypt) was mostly desert, with a few oasis located in the land. However, as compared to many parts of the Middle East & Africa, Egypt was blessed with the Nile River, which, in it's annual flood, left a nutrient-rich soil called silt, which enabled farming along the river. This led to the development of not only the Egyptian people in population expansion, but also their culture around the life-giving body of water. The Egyptians not only used the Nile river for drinking water and irrigation, but also a source of transportation for trade, a protective barrier, and, as some may put it, as something the Egyptians would worship. Without the usage of the Nile River, Egypt would be like most of the land around her, dry, sandy, and unusable. But with the blessing of the river, Egypt was able to become one of the ancient civilizations that not only we admire and look upon, but continues until this day.
