Terrance has had a difficult time dealing with stress lately because of past traumatic experiences that have been bothering him. he goes to see a therapist and tells her his problem. his therapist, janice, recently read an article about adjustment disorder. she suggests that terrance may have this disorder and diagnoses him as such. even though janice is a trained psychologist, her diagnosis is not purely based on her client's symptoms but is partially influenced by because janice should be aware of her susceptibility to faulty thinking, her mistake is an example of the

availability heuristic ;bias blind spot.

Explanation:Availability heuristic refers to how we think somthing is more likely to happen only because we have more example that comes to mind about more similar things. For example, investors may make judgements based on the current news.

Janice uses what she has read recently because it is the first thing that came to mind when she was dealing with Terrance's case and now she makes association between the two , she feels if is likely that Terrace is suffering from the same thing since this is what is recently available.

What is a blind spot?

Blind spot refers to those things we subconsciously overlook or choose to ignore. This is where we tend to distort the reality, this bias can result to negative consequences of not attended to and corrected quickly.

Like Janice may be making the wrong association here.

panem is a communist totalitarian dictatorship where all the resources and how they are allocated belongs to the capitol. the districts exist only to provide goods and services for the capital and most of the citizens live in poverty. it is a police state where the "peacekeepers" use force and threats to keep the people under control. dissent is outlawed and those who disobey the law are executed, flogged, or turned into avoxes. the games are another means in which the ruling elite in the capitol exert their power over the districts. when reading the books i drew parallels between panem and the soviet union and north korea. in no way is panem capitalist. the people in the capitol are wealthy but the majority of them are involved in the government somehow. it was the same way in the former soviet union where bigwigs in the communist party and high ranking government officials were given access to goods, services, medical treatments not available to the general public. if you think panem has a capitalist economy you need to brush up on your economics.
