For this assignment, you will record and analyze your food intake over forty-eight hours. This includes food from the grocery store, school lunch, eating out, and any other food you eat. You must record what you ate and estimate the cost of the food. You must then multiply this by the number of people in your family. Then, using this information, ask your parents or guardian what percentage of their earned income your family spends on food. Do not report the earned income, only the percentage spent on food.

Next, research and find out what percentage of their income families in other countries spend on food. Record the spending for families in at least two different countries. You may not find this broken down by family; instead, there may be an average given. It is fine to use this average.

Finally, discuss how your family’s food expenses compare to that of families in other countries. Make sure to propose at least two potential reasons for the difference.
