Researchers asked some participants to think of six times they had behaved assertively and asked other participants to think of twelve times they had behaved assertively, and then asked all participants to rate how assertive they thought they really were. Participants who tried to generate six examples of assertive behaviors rated themselves as more assertive than did participants who tried to generate twelve examples. According to the question , Schwarz et al. (1991)  concept is described for defining ease of retrieving information . Participants are able to recall six incidents of assertive behavior well but in case of remembering twelve  incidents, participants are rating themselves as less assertive.

This phenomena is describing that remembering less examples of something is comparatively easy than recalling more number of examples in self assessment. Therefore,twelve example case was considered unassertive and six example case gave assertive as a result.
